How the game teaches equivalent fractions
Kids can usually recite that 1/2 equals 2/4 long before they believe it. What convinces them is watching it happen. In Magic Knife, one tap cuts every slice in two: 1/3 becomes 2/6 in front of them, with the pie looking exactly the same. Then they type the new fraction themselves.
Same Size? flips it around: three cakes cut into different numbers of slices, and only one holds the same amount as the pie on the left. The wrong cakes come from a real mistake: adding the same number to top and bottom, which turns 1/2 into 3/4 instead of 2/4.
Which mini games you'll play
- Same Size? matches cakes by amount
- Magic Knife doubles the slices and asks for the new fraction
- Counter Orders asks for one fraction and serves it cut another way
- Oven Check asks whether statements like 2/3 = 4/6 are true
- The prize rounds ask “which is the same as 3/4?”

Questions
What grade learns equivalent fractions?
In US Common Core, 3rd grade explains simple equivalent fractions with models (3.NF.A.3) and 4th grade explains why multiplying top and bottom by the same number works (4.NF.A.1).
What's the easiest way to explain equivalent fractions?
Cut the same pie into more slices. The pie hasn't changed, so the amount hasn't changed, even though both numbers got bigger. The lesson walks through it.
Is the fraction game really free?
Yes. The whole game plays free in your browser, with no signup, no ads and no time limit. A Fraction Bakery app for iPhone is coming later, but the web game stays free.

Take the bakery with you, soon
A Fraction Bakery app for iPhone is on the way. The plan: offline play for the car, a parent report of which fractions have stuck, and the full bakery shelf of prizes. Until then, the whole game is free right here.
