Why halves matter

Halves are every child's first fraction, and the most useful one: later on, 1/2 is the benchmark kids use to judge every other fraction. The one thing worth nailing early is that the two parts must be equal. A pie cut into a big piece and a small piece has not been halved, which is why Oven Check bins those trays.

This version of the game keeps coming back to 1/2: finding it, spotting it in disguise as 2/4 or 3/6, and comparing other fractions against it.
